i am attempting to pursue my passion in the midst of our crumbling world.
i am determined to submit my poetry manuscript to an open call in July and i start a new full-time job next week, all while watching the world burn at the hands of political leaders and apathy.
as i practice balancing my creative work with my survival work, i also hope to bring regular donations and mutual aid back into practice. and i’m asking for some help with that endeavor.
i currently have two paid monthly subscribers on Substack, earning me about $14 a month. and the rate of pay at my new job will be enough to afford my bills and other necessities but not much else. i know that most of us are struggling and don’t have much to offer in the way of monetary support for others, but hear me out:
my monthly subscription cost is $7, which is about one or two coffees. if you could spare the cost of that one coffee, you would be supporting both my creative endeavors and my desire to contribute to the needs of community members and others in need.
going forward, i will be forwarding at least 50% of my monthly Substack earnings to mutual aid efforts. and you could be a part of that!
my goal is to reach 31 paid subscribers (because i just turned 31— in case you missed it) by next month, which would afford me about $108 per month toward supporting others in need. if you could help me get the word out or find it in your finances to become a paid subscriber yourself, i would be deeply grateful.
